Albany Looks for Another Win, Battles UMass

The 10th ranked University of Massachusetts Minutemen and the 17th ranked University of Albany Great Danes, go head-to-head this weekend at Garber Field. University of Massachusetts is climbing up the NCAA Division I rankings, with their impressive play and 4-0 record. Nick Mariano is leading UMass in points with 15, on 14 goals and 1 assist. His talent at the Attack position has surged the Minutemen offense.

The Great Danes at 1-2 on the season look to shake off their two one-goal losses to Syracuse and Drexel. Last weekend, Albany won their first game of the season against Harvard, 14-8. Miles Thompson’s eight goals secured the Great Danes victory. Miles is now tied at the top spot for Albany in scoring with his brother Lyle, scoring 18 points each. Their cousin Ty has seven points on the year and is second on the team in scoring.

This matchup will be a test for both teams, as UMass looks to continue their hot play, while Albany looks to get back in the win column. The faceoff takes place this Saturday, March 8th, at 1:00 pm.
