Cannons Tie for Playoff Seed

The Boston Cannons won their third game in a row last night to get their record to 4-5 with a win over the Ohio Machine. Since the Charlotte Hounds also lost, they are tied for the fourth playoff seed.Rookie Cameron Flint won his first ever player of the game award as he put up four goals for the Cannons. Rookie Will Manny added two goals while Mike Stone scored three, all in a row.

Jordan Burke made 11 saves on the 1-8 Ohio Machine. Steele Stanwick picked up four points and rookie Logan Schuss six points, five of them goals. Brian Phipps made nine saves in net. Ohio led 3-1 after one quarter, but then the Cannons took off.

Manny, Kevin Buchanan and then two from Flint gave the Cannons the lead, and they led 6-5 at the half. Boston had a strong third quarter with five goals, but Ohio still made it a close game until late.

Chris Eck went 16-for-26 in faceoffs against Eric O’Brien from the Machine. Boston led with 22 shots on goal to the 20 from the Machine. Boston also had the groundball advantage with 26 to 20.

The Cannons come back next week against the Charlotte Hounds, in a game that might be vital in the playoff race.
