Ever since the Canadian Lacrosse League was created, it was meant to be a feeder system for the NLL. Though it has had its share of criticism, and teams have folded, the league has done its job and succeeded.
Zach Higgins, who played with the Durham TurfDogs, has become a starting goalie in the NLL. Pat Saunders (Brampton Inferno of years past) has become a regular. Damon Edwards is a starting defender with the Toronto Rock. Bradley Kri and Tyler Burton will be regulars with Vancouver this year.
Not to mention this year’s rookie class, which looks like CLax’s strongest contribution yet.
Minor lacrosse leagues have failed mostly in the past four years, but CLax has actually provided an outlet for players to grow into top professionals. Maybe it’s time we give them that credit.
