Last night Minnesota Swarm goaltender Evan Kirk joined The Lacrosse Radio Network’s show Wings Nest to discuss the Swarm’s season and their win over the Philadelphia Wings last week.
Kirk spoke about auctioning off his goalie mask which pays homage to former NLL goalie Chris Sanderson. “It’s on auctions.mnswarm.com and on my twitter. To buy it now is $4,000. It only has a couple weeks. Not only does the mask cost a lot, it also cost $2,000 to have done”
Kirk also talked about ordering one of the pins to honor Sanderson that Wings Nest host Rocco Granato started. He also talked about his team, the Swarm and their season so far.
“I think they [rookies] saw a lot of what happened last year with nine rookies in the lineup. I think they kind of realize even though you’re a rookie you were picked for a reason. You’re expected to do that and it’s been proven in the past year”
He also spoke about the Andrew Suitor injury, and how the team has rebounded. “That’s true about teams getting on a roll at the right time with Edmonton, Rochester and even ourselves last year. He’s that guy that everyone wants to see but he was a phenomenal player, he can fight, score goals and play defense. We realized if he wasn’t going to come back we have to pick it up and he’d want us to do well”
