The Buffalo Bandits are beginning to make their cuts before their last pre season game on Friday against Philadelphia.
They cut long time backup goalie Angus Goodleaf along with other players. They cut lose Travis Gibbons, Brandon Francis, Mitch Barnard, Jordan Daradick, Travis Irving, Kyle Schmelzele, Wenster Green and Brendan Doran.
Green was drafted to the Bandits but also the Iroquois Ironmen of the Canadian Lacrosse League, so there is a good chance we see him there. Mitch Barnard had also been drafted this year.
Last season Francis played in ten games and scored three goals. He has five goals in his NLL career that began in 2008.
Irving, a defender, has been with the Bandits for two seasons with 31 career loose balls. Doran is a defender that has played with the Minnesota Swarm and with the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse.
Schmelzle has seen time with Buffalo before and plays with Six Nations in MSL. The moves leave the Bandits with seven defenders and eight transition men. Rookie Hayden Smith is still on the roster in the transition unit as of now.
With Goodleaf out, it seems probable that former Wings backup Kurtis Wagar will be the backup now in Buffalo to Anthony Cosmo.
Meanwhile, agent Chaka Bainbridge tweeted earlier today that Billy Dee Smith is signing with the Bandits. It is unknown if he will play at all this weekend.
