The Buffalo Bandits have officially released prospect Marty Hill. He was very optimistic about a future with the Bandits and the potential to be playing alongside lacrosse legend John Tavares.
Marty played in Major Series Lacrosse for Six Nations, but didn’t seem to have a heavy impact offensively. In 2012 (including their playoff appearance) Hill only had three goals and seven assists. His real breakout season seemed to be in 2013 when Marty recorded 17 GP, 5 G, 15 A (making 20 PTS), and 24 PIM.
That was just the regular season. When Six Nations made it to postseason play in 2013, Marty seemed to really spearhead the offense accumulating 12 GP, 2 G and 2 A.
I think the cut from the Bandits organization came from a health standpoint. Over the offseason, Hill was recovering from a knee surgery. To make the jump from MSL to NLL is considered difficult by some. I do understand that when someone is trying to prove themselves setbacks like physical injuries can end up being the difference makers.
This may not be the worst thing to happen to Hill. He can now focus on recovering his knee over time, using it again in MSL, then potentially trying out for the Bandits again in the future.
