The Buffalo Bandits have released draft pick Mike Melnychenko following their first pre season game. Melnychenko was the sixth round pick of the Bandits in the 2014 NLL draft.
Melnychenko went much later in the draft than was expected, as he was ranked as a top 20 prospect. Buffalo drafted all lefties, so it was going to be hard to crack that roster on that side.
There is a possibility the forward is picked up by a team who needs lefty depth. With the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks this summer, Melnychenko did not contribute like he did with the Brooklin Redmen where he had 27 points in his rookie Major Series Lacrosse season.
The Bandits played this past weekend where they defeated the New England Black Wolves to open their pre season schedule. In the game, Melnychenko picked up one assist on a goal from Corey Fowler.
