The New York Lizards and Chesapeake Bayhawks have made a trade, sending offensive midfielder Michael Kimmel to New York and midfielder David Earl to the Bayhawks.
Kimmel was the second overall pick of the Bayhawks in 2010 and has been starting for them since. He had four two-point goals with the Bayhawks last season. Earl, meanwhile, played 12 games with the Lizards last year and seven in 2014. He had 19 points last year and thus far has seven. Earl began his career with the Hamilton Nationals where he had 49 points in two seasons.
“Really happy to add a player like Michael Kimmel to our lineup. Mike is a proven winner with three MLL championships and an MLL all star,” Lizards head coach Joe Spallina told us. “We think adding a big time dodger and shooter like Michael really elevates us.”
The Lizards, who are tied for third place with Boston and Florida, bolster a midfield unit that also includes JoJo Marasco, Albert Maione and Matt Streibel.
Chesapeake needed to add a scoring midfielder with their injuries, and at 2-6 this year scoring has been their main issue. Chesapeake is last in the league in scoring while Brendan Mundorf and Drew Westervelt have been missing games.
