Boston Cannons vs Long Island Lizards Unit by Unit

This week the Boston Cannons will look to start a winning streak after their win over the Hamilton Nationals. Meanwhile the Long Island Lizards lost two games, both to the Rochester Rattlers.

Goaltending

To me, this is the best goaltending you can find in Major League Lacrosse. Jordan Burke is on pace to win goaltender of the year with the Cannons while Drew Adams won the award last season.

Burke was the championship MVP, which made up for what a lot of people thought was a snub for not winning goaltender of the year himself. Burke made eighteen saves last week against Hamilton. I give the Cannons this advantage.

Attack

I give the Cannons the advantage here too. The Lizards have some good attackmen, but they are very young with Ryan Young and Matt Gibson and the likes. Boston has Ari Sussman, who is also young, but then a veteran like Ryan Boyle gives the Cannons the edge, along with a super star like Matt Poskay.

Midfield

Boston has this advantage for one reason- Paul Rabil. Long Island has their fair share of players too, with Max Seibald and Brian Langtr and the likes, but the combination of Rabil, Kevin Buchanan, Pat Heim and more, Boston once again wins.

Defense

I will give Long Island this one. Boston’s defense has been iffy to me late in games for the past month or so, and CJ Costabile has burst onto the scene as an elite player.
