The Minnesota Swarm are heading to camp on Nov. 29th in Oakville, ON at the Toronto Rock Athletic Center. The Swarm are coming off an impressive late season run into the playoffs, where they made it to the Conference Finals for the second straight year. Minnesota is also coming off an outstanding draft, where they drafted the top two players and four total first rounders.
Heading into camp the Swarm need to figure out whether or not goaltender Tyler Carlson can step up and be the number one goalie. This will easily be the biggest question that the Swarm need to answer during the camp. This question will also give the Swarm a chance to really tryout Zach Higgins and Ryan Masters to see if either one could possibly be a number one goalie this season.
After that question everything gets a little easier, in a sense. The team has a number of players already on the roster that will be challenged by young guys just out of the draft. Easy to say the number one and number two overall picks, Logan Schuss and Jeremy Noble respectively, will make the team. Most likely Cam Flint and Scott Jones, both drafted in the first round, will make the team.
This is where camp will get interesting. The Swarm just signed Zach Palmer to a contract and that means the Swarm will need to make some cuts. Most likely Jay Card and Corbyn Tao will be bumped to practice squad and Greg Downing probably won’t be resigned.
The Swarm still have some signings to get to but as of now the Swarm are looking dangerous and the other teams in the NLL will need to look out for them.
