An exciting match will kick off Monday morning at 8am MST between Finland and Scotland, the two top teams of the Turquoise and White divisions, respectively. They fought their way to the top of their divisions, and are ready to face off on Field 10, and for everyone who can’t be at the match, it will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Last time around, Finland ended the FIL tournament in 12th place. They are certainly looking stronger than last time, and it’s due to their Finland is hoping to keep their fantastic momentum from their Saturday Shutout against Columbia, and their 18-1 victory over Spain on Sunday. Finland is a strong team with an exceptional defense, and they capitalize on their ability to hold teams back from scoring against them in an extremely competitive and high-intensity fashion. They are a sturdy group that meshes well on the field, and their Goalkeeper has been having stellar performances in goal since FIL play has begun.
Scotland finished the 2010 FIL tournament in a strong 7th place. They are a completely different team, but one thing remained about Scotland Lacrosse: They are at a strong 3-0 on tournament play so far, and are hoping to increase that to 4-0, by gaining a victory over Finland today. They have been doing excellent this far, and if they keep up their offensive success, we will be seeing quite the competitive match against Finland and their outstanding defense. After Scotland’s 24-3 victory over Thailand in the first match of FIL, they have been working together like a well-oiled machine, syncing each facet of play into a game that is undeniably one of the best this tournament will see.
The high intensity and fierce level of play that will be displayed Monday morning will certainly be a great way to begin a day of lacrosse.
