The Rochester Knighthawks may be the three time defending champs, but after losing their first game of the season to the Toronto Rock by a goal and getting blown out in week two by the New England Black Wolves, there are concerns that the Knighthawks need to address to get this team back on track.
Their Offense needs to get back to basics in regards to catching and passing the ball around and also moving their feet around. You can not count this team out just yet as they have some of the best players in the game including Cody Jamieson (11 points this year) and goalie Matt Vinc. They are missing something in the locker room though, and that is Stephen Keogh.
Keogh is out as of now and that really hurts this offense being that Keogh is a big part of it, and it really shows on the floor. The trade of Johnny Powless still hurts, and not having 2nd overall pick Jeremy Noble on the floor while they could have drafted Miles Thompson who is tearing it up in Minnesota had to really make people think what if?
Joe Walters had put up points but not enough for being one of the team’s main forwards. In two games Joe only has 3 points. One player who has not seemed to fit in on offense has been Aaron Wilson. Aaron played with the Buffalo Bandits last season and was one of the last cuts for the Bandits this past training camp. Aaron is a good player but he has not been able to find his groove and has so far only recorded 4 points.
Chris Attwood has not seen any game action yet this season. If he gets some playing time, we will get to see if he can give this offense a boost.
Their defense has not been that bad but goalie Matt Vinc has an average of letting up 15 goals a game and has only 65 saves in the first two games. If the Knighthawks offense can get on track, it will only help Vinc and the defense. Then maybe we can see this team win their fourth straight NLL championship.
