According to a report from The Province, Vancouver Stealth captain and defenseman will undergo knee surgery this month and miss the entire 2015 season in Vancouver. Sorensen missed much of last season and has struggled with knee injuries.
It was general manager Doug Locker who told The Province of the news. The report also states that defenseman Matt Beers might not return if he gets hired by a fire department this offseason.
Locker hasn’t announced who the captain will be, but the Stealth should be happy they traded for former Buffalo Bandits defenseman Rory Smith at the draft so they have some solid depth.
Also on the Stealth defense unit Chris O’Dougherty returns after missing much of last season, along with Tim Henderson making his NLL return, and they signed former Rochester defenseman Tyler Burton. Their defense should still be a solid unit thanks to these additions, even with the loss of Sorensen and potentially Beers.
