NCAA Season Preview: Ivy League

January 19, 2015

Realistically, the Ivy League is a two team race between Harvard and Cornell, with Princeton on the fringe of being a factor. The League features five teams in the Pre-Season Top 20: #8 Cornell #11 Harvard #12 Penn #17 Yale #20 Princeton. The Ivy League Pre-Season Coaches’ Poll ranks the teams in this order: Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Yale, Brown, and Dartmouth. The biggest conference game will easily be the…

NCAA Underdogs of 2015

December 12, 2014

What’s better than watching the top seeded team get upset? Or seeing a powerhouse ultimately come crashing down in the finals? Below are my personal predictions as to who has shots at seeing postseason action this season in Baltimore. I’m not saying all these teams, or any of these teams, will make it. I’m not saying others won’t. But based on underdog criteria I will outline below, these schools have…

Ivy League Showed Heightened Competition in 2014

It was a competitive season for the Ivy’s in the NCAA.  Honorable mentions go to Yale, Brown, Princeton, and Dartmouth. Penn, Cornell, and Harvard all had some championship worthy seasons and displayed great talent in the NCAA tournament.  They brought a new respect to the Ivy division, even though these three teams lost in the first round. The level of play each of those teams displayed in the tournament was…

NCAA Round One Notes: Upsets, Comebacks and Blowouts

PHOTOS: IAN NEADLE Albany at Loyola: Upset Heading into this match up Loyola was ranked No. 1 with a plethora of talent. Jack Runkel has been effective in goaltending, Joe Fletcher heads the defense and the offense was an unmatched machine… until Loyola met the Thompson trio. Thanks to the Thompsons, the Great Danes made fools out of the Greyhounds. There were multiple game moments when one of the three (Myles,…

Terps Battle Back in Thriller Over Cornell

This was a battle of the titans as the Terps hosted the Big Red yesterday in College Park, MD. Cornell drew first blood fairly quickly into the first quarter. They shortly followed up with a second goal. The game from that point forward was a blood-match, high quality lacrosse going back and forth consistently throughout the game.  After the first quarter, Maryland trailed 2-0. It seemed as if everything the…

Can you believe we only have a week left until Selection Sunday? It feels like ages since the season started back in February and just as the weather has started to heat up, so to has the games we’ve seen and the players performances. Miles Thompson continues to pile up the points in chuncks, Jordan Wolf looks to be playing his best lacrosse when his team needs it most and…

ACC Mashup Following Conference Play; Heading Into Tournament Games

April 28, 2014

Just a short month ago, Syracuse sat at 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the ACC. Their scoring margin was -6 but that reasonable statistic does not show the magnitude of the 16-8 loss to Maryland, 17-12 loss to Virginia and 21-7 loss to Duke. I’ve watched a lot of lacrosse in my life and I can definitively say that Maryland-SU and Duke-SU games easily top my list of the two…

Chamberlain: Conference Playoffs Begin

April 24, 2014

Friday Night Lights Kicks off an action packed Weekend of College and Pro Action Patriot League Playoffs Army vs. Lehigh I like Lehigh in this matchup between two very well coached teams. Lehigh is balanced on offense and has strong goaltending with junior Matt Poillion. My prediction is Lehigh by three. Loyola vs. Colgate I made the mistake of not picking Loyola in the regular season matchup. I’m not going…
