Following a destructive loss in the season opener to the Philadelphia Wings, the Buffalo Bandits have tons of work ahead. Luckily, time is on their side and they have close to a week and a half to prepare for the Toronto Rock at home on January 10th. The repeated word after the game in Buffalo was ‘outworked’ in some form. “They taught us a lesson. We were outworked, outplayed, outwilled……
First, congratulations to the opening week winners in Philadelphia, Rochester, and Edmonton. The early season has some interesting storylines. Who would have expected 17 goals from the Wings to open the season? Tracey Kelusky has already proved his worth in the Wings opening season win. Evan Kirk got his first win, taking the reins over from Brandon Miller. Jordan Hall took over the game with a huge night (five goals)….
Over the next nine days, we will be looking at the top nine stories of the year in lacrosse, based off of our most read and covered stories. Today is #1 with the Rochester Knighthawks NLL championship. Today’s story is the top one of 2013, which is now just a memory. It is also the second day in a row where a ‘hawk team that won back to back titles is…
It takes a different kind of cat to play goaltender. When most people are trying their best to get out of the way of shots, it’s the goalie’s job to deliberately put themselves in front of balls and stop them at any cost. Being willing to do that requires a special kind of mindset; being good at it is even more of a challenge. To the casual lacrosse observer, it…
Today the Calgary Roughnecks made two transactions, releasing rookie Cody Hawkins and activating practice roster player Scott Carnegie. The Roughnecks open the season this week against the Toronto Rock. Hawkins is a rookie defenseman who had made the roster out of camp. He was projected to be last on the depth chart of their righty defensemen on their roster and it was likely that he would have been one of…
Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced a series of roster moves leading up to Friday’s season opener against the Calgary Roughnecks at Air Canada Centre. Veteran defender Chris White has been placed on the Injured Reserve List with a lower body injury sustained in training camp. White is out indefinitely and the earliest he would return to action would be January 31st when the Rock host the Vancouver Stealth. …
There were 3 games in the opening weekend for the NLL. The Swarm took on the Knighthawks in Rochester; the Buffalo Bandits faced the Philadelphia Wings in Buffalo; the Edmonton Rush took down the Colorado Mammoth in Colorado. I’m going to look at the standouts from each game. The Knighthawks took down the Swarm 8-6 on the night they raised their Champions Cup banner. Standing out in this game, first…
The Calgary Roughnecks are starting the 2014 season with righty forward Scott Ranger on the Physically Unable to Perform list and it looks like he might not be back until next year. According to Calgary head coach Curt Malawsky, Ranger suffered a broken jaw during the offseason and is on the shelf indefinitely. “He’s on a list to get the surgery done, so he’s basically on the injured reserve,” said…
After the final horn had sounded and the game concluded against the Wings, the scoreboard told the final tale of the contest. The Philadelphia Wings emerged victorious with a 17-13 victory over the Buffalo Bandits last night before a crowd of 13,564 at the First Niagara Center. What occurred last night for me seemed to bring up feelings of déjà vu, especially from those late games in the 2013 season…
