The Florida Launch (4-2) have been impressing in their first season a part of the Major League Lacrosse. The Launch continue to sit in second in the standings, while remaining second in the power rankings since Week 2 concluded, via Major League Lacrosse.
Rookie Kieran McArdle has had much success putting points on the board on any given night much like he did at Saint John’s, which kept him out of the lineup at the onset of the season but has had no problem contributing of late, with 12 goals and three assists. Veteran Casey Powell with 29 points leads the league in points, and is a big reason behind their success. Garrett Thul completes the “Big 3” that exists in south Florida. Garrett has added 11 goals this season after joining the team late.
Next on the schedule is a trip to the Queen City to take on the Charlotte Hounds. The Hounds have struggled this season and the Launch will be hoping to avenge their last road loss in Rochester and complete the season sweep against Charlotte.
Charlotte’s Ryan Young looks to run his streak to 24 consecutive games with at least one point. Last week, Young had three goals in a big home win against the Outlaws. The addition of reigning Cascade Rookie of the Week Justin Ward has been a big reason why the Hounds have looked like a more focused group the past two games. While the Hounds rank near the bottom of every category, they proved they can play with anyone after being the first team to beat Denver this season.
The Launch continued their appearances with a Warrior Player of the week award recipient. This week it was on the defensive side with Joe Cinosky taking home the honors. Brett Queener remains very active in goal, never hesitant to leave the crease when the ball’s on the turf, and help his team get out in transition.
