Major League Lacrosse has seen possibly its biggest blockbuster in history this afternoon when the Boston Cannons traded midfielder Paul Rabil to the New York Lizards according to Lacrosse Magazine. New York also acquires Mike Stone and a fourth round pick next season.
Going to Boston in return is Max Seibald, long pol Brian Karalunas, and a second rounder in 2017. Lacrosse Magazine reports another deal is in the works for the Cannons to continue their rebuild.
Boston lost both Stephen Berger and Ryan Boyle to retirement this past season along with Matt Striebel in the supplemental draft, leaving now Seibald and Will Manny as the faces of their offense.
Meanwhile, Rabil joins a strong offense in New York that also has Ned Crotty and Rob Pannell.
New York made a lot of trades last off season and made the playoffs, losing to the Denver Outlaws in the smi finals. Now it appears as if they are going for it all in 2015.
Meanwhile, Boston is in a rebuild mode as they have lost nearly their entire core from their 2011 championship run and will need to use the draft to restock.
