Mike Sawyer was the key to Loyola’s victory, scoring four goals over Towson. Sawyer gave the Greyhounds the spark that they needed in order to win. The start of the game was brutal, within ten minutes the Greyhounds had scored four goals.
Towson could not match the intensity of the Greyhounds. Everytime the Tigers had an opportunity to close the gap, the Greyhounds found a crack in the defense and scored at will.
Jack Runkel was a huge factor with having ten saves. This was an impressive win for this team. They critique their defensive strategy to a tee and their offense was on fire.
Blake Burkhart made just his first start and had the game of his life. He led all players with eight ground balls. You can see what this team brings when they are all clicking together. The offense responded by getting goals and their defense held their ground. Towson looked tired and had no answer to stopping Mike Sawyer.
Loyola is on a roll. They are still undefeated and look to be a dominate force in their conference; Next week they face a bigger task, they have to play Maryland. Remember, last year Loyola had beat Maryland in the 2012 Championship Game 9-3. This will be a game to remember.
Look for Maryland to avenge their loss, but as for now, Loyola looks to be at the peak of their game.
