So far the Mann Cup has been a back and forth affair as the Shamrocks took game one and the Chiefs answered back to take game two. Game one was a goaltending showdown which Matt Vinc came out on top while game two was more of an offensive affair. With game three taking place tonight let’s take a look at the keys to victory for both teams.
For the Shamrocks they need to continue to outshoot the Chiefs. So far the Shamrocks have outshot the Chiefs 95-69 through the first two games of this series. If the Shamrocks keep up this consistent pressure on Evan Kirk he will eventually crack in net for the Chiefs and the Shamrocks will be able to take advantage. The second thing the Shamrocks have to do is they need to take control of this game early. In both games in this series the Shamrocks have been battling from behind for the majority of the games. The Shamrocks need to change this by getting an early lead and forcing the Chiefs to rally from behind. If the Shamrocks can get a lead there is no doubt that Matt Vinc will be able to hold off the Chiefs offence as the Shamrocks have significantly limited the Chiefs chances on net.
For the Chiefs they need to continue to get off to a good start in game three. The Chiefs have drawn first blood in both games in the Mann Cup and they need to continue to force the Shamrocks to work from behind. The Chiefs will also need to generate more offensive chances as they can no longer allow themselves to be outshot. The Chiefs need to generate offensive pressure on Matt Vinc and try to make him uncomfortable in between the pipes. The Chiefs offense has so far been able to capitalize on their chances but if they can generate more pressure they will be able to build an insurmountable lead which the Shamrocks will not be able to overcome.
In the end expect the Shamrocks to win game three as they have been the better team overall as they have been able to find success in every area of the game.
