Yesterday, I got the chance to speak with Washington Stealth draftee Mitchell Jones about his experience in the NLL draft. You saw some of them earlier today in our draft story, but here is everything Mitch had to say.
What was draft day like for you?
A. Pretty normal, I had a busy day at school and training and then after that just relaxed and waited to watch the draft on my computer with a couple of friends. I received a lot of good luck wishes before it started from friends all over.
What went on in your mind before the draft?
A.  I was naturally curious about who was going to choose me, as well as how everyone else was going to be picked but most importantly my teammates from the Orangeville Northmen and a few guys from my hometown Delta, BC as there were quite a few of us represented in this year’s draft.
Were your expectations any different?
A.  I really wasn’t sure what was going to happen because of my situation with school and hockey so I went in without too many expectations, although I did have a pretty good sense of the teams that were interested in me and I was expecting one of those teams to end up picking me.
What interaction have you had with the Stealth since the draft?
A. I have had a couple conversations with the Stealth GM Doug Locker over the phone as well as some emails. We are both excited about the future of the Stealth and we will talk again soon about the upcoming year and what my role in that can be.
What are your thoughts on joining Washington?
A. I am very happy to be a part of the Washington Stealth organization, getting the chance to join a team that is one season removed from back to back Champions Cup appearances and a championship title. As well as the opportunity to  join an offence with the likes of Duch, Iannucci, and Ratcliff is going to be exciting for me.
