The Rochester Knighthawks have signed defenseman Miller Rusbridge to a one year deal this week. Rusbridge will be joining the Knighthawks training camp later this month.
Knighthawks coach Mike Hasen likes what he sees in Rusbridge. Hasen has coached him with MSL’s Brampton Excelsiors the past two seasons, and they won the Mann Cup in one of those years.
The 24 year old defenseman has played with some Knighthawks players in the past including fellow defenseman Sid Smith in the Minto Cup with the Six Nations Arrows.
He has also played with some Knighthawks at the MSL level including star goaltender Matt Vinc and defenseman Tyler Burton.
Rusbridge was a member of the Peel Avengers (now the Niagara Lock Monsters) in the Canadian Lacrosse League last winter, where the defender scored five goals. With the Oakville Titans of Sr B, he put up 30 points this season. Via the Knighthawks website;
“He’s got some good speed and he’s got this go-full-speed attitude where he just goes. He listens pretty well, and he works and communicates with guys pretty well,” Hasen said as he described Rusbridge. “I expect him to come into camp and push, and push a lot of these guys around for that spot.”
