Round One Projections

Rochester, Hamilton, Charlotte, Ohio, Long Island, Boston, Denver, Hamilton

In this round we could see many MLL veterans be selected, like Dan Hardy or Dan Cocchi, both players who have been around the block in the league. A team like Denver might try a young midfielder like Adam Jones, who is a former NLL rookie of the year. Boston might go with FOGO Tim Fallon to backup Chris Eck with John Ortolani now gone. It’s hard to predict where you will see guys end up, but these are some names we could see in round one.

Players to Watch

Other than the guys mentioned above, there are plenty of interesting names in this draft. One of those players is Craig Bunker, who could fight for a starting faceoff job with a team. Denver, Boston or Rochester could look for someone like him, and maybe a team like Hamilton as well.

Some players who are on the list of eligible players but will not play include Casey Powell, JJ Morrissey, Tim Goettelman and Chris Garrity. Other players like Max Quinzani and the Bratton brothers who are just not going to play are also listed.

Greg Rogowski has a chance to stick with a team after having great box seasons in Vermont and Charlotte. I know, that’s not field, but he is the all time leading scorer at Merrimack, so he has some skill in the outdoor game. Could be a really big sleeper in the middle rounds.

Rhys Duch will likely be drafted back by Hamilton, because it seems unlikely he would play in MLL anywhere else but a Canadian team. Kevin Ridgway could end up on a team that needs more defensive depth, like Charlotte or Long Island.

Mike Gabel is the best goalie in the draft, and a team that struggled at the position like Charlotte or Ohio is likely to give him a shot. Adam Ghitelman got better with the Hounds as last season went on, but Gabel could provide a viable backup.

Lastly, Peter Vlahakis is one of the best faceoff men of all time, and though older, a team should give him a shot, possibly whoever misses out on Fallon or Bunker.
