MLL Three Stars: Hunt’s Big Performance Leads the Way

Boy were there some big performances this week in the MLL! As is customary on our website, we nominate our three stars for this past week’s action and there were some tough decisions to make. This week’s action featured some ridiculous stat lines on offense with several players scoring six or more points. With many nominees, who were the lucky three who earned this week’s honors?

First Star: Ben Hunt, Midfield, Chesapeake Bayhawks

Ben Hunt went off in helping the Bayhawks snap their losing streak. Hunt scored six goals and added two assists in the Bayhawks 16-15 victory over Boston. Luckily for the Bayhawks, everybody on offense had a great day but Hunt had the best one of all and the Bayhawks may be awakening from their slow start.

Second Star: Curtis Dickson, Attack, Denver Outlaws

Dickson continues to impress in his first season for the Outlaws. Unlike the other players in the league, his path to the league is a little unusual as he was picked right from the NLL instead of the NCAA. Either way, Dickson has been lighting up the box score for the Outlaws as he had four goals and three assists in Denver’s 16-11 win over the New York Lizards to get back on the winning track.

Third Star: Peter Baum, Steele Stanwick, Marcus Holman, Ohio Machine

I know I am cheating here but there is no way to seperate these guys from their performances in their 18-13 win over the Rattlers. Baum scored five goals and an assist, Stanwick handed out six assists and Holman scored five goals. Combined they accounted for 10 of the 18 goals scored and assisted on seven of the 18 goals. Ohio has gone from one of the league’s worst offenses last year to one of the most explosive in 2014.
