New USA Box League Looks to Change American Lacrosse

Our Pat Gregoire has been reporting the past few weeks about a new American box lacrosse league, and after a week of research we can confirm that there is indeed a new box lacrosse league coming however plans are for it to be North American.

The league is likely to begin in 2016, though 2015 is a possibility. Rosters are said to include at least half American players including one goaltender who must start in a determined amount of games.

The league is proposing a 30 game schedule and operate from mid-May to mid-September and will emphasize the development of American players to complement the Canadian players with some rule changes to assist in the transition of American field players to the indoor game.

Players will live in the cities they play for and most teams will play in small- to mid-size venues where prime summer dates will be available for home teams.

One source also indicated to us that CLax Founders Paul St. John and Jim Veltman will be involved in the league at some capacity.

We have been told that details will be announced by the league in two weeks. Stay tuned to In Lacrosse We Trust for updates as they become available.
