NJIT is the newest division I program and they have started things off with a 0-6 record so far. To open the year NJIT had a 18-4 lose to Stony Brook and got beat 10-3 to Quinnipiac. In the third game they did put up ten goals the most all year to Vermont but still did not win the 17-10 game.
Since then New Jersey teams such as Monmouth won by three and Rutgers just gave NJIT a beat down 21-2. This team is very young only having two players that are not freshman on it so they have room to grow over the next few years.
John Roach and Joe Lomeli each lead the way h nine points this season. Tyler Bagget had eight and Connor Lally has five to round out the top scorers. In net Nick Marzullo has made seventy-four saves as the starting goalie. NJIT is a true hometown team having nineteen players representing the Garden State.
Richmond is in their second year as a division I program and made the NCAA tournament last season. So far they have a 5-3 record having lost to Marquette, UMBC and UNC. They have beat teams such as Rutgers, Jacksonville, VMI.
Sophomores JP Forester, who had a seven point game vs. VMI, and Mitch Goldberg, who had six points vs. Rutgers, each have twenty-three points this season. Senior Mickey Hofmeister has nineteen points has of right now he has scored three points five times this season.
Benny Pugh has made ninety-four saves in net this year. Look for Richmond to get their six win of the year after beating NJIT
