NLL Power Rankings: Toronto Stays On Top

Toronto Rock stays at #1 this week with there 14-12 defeat of the Buffalo Bandits.  Captain Colin Doyle tallied 8 pts (4G), and Garrett Billings 7pts (5A), Josh Sanderson 6pts (5A) move the Rock to 5-1 in the East.  Next Opponent   Feb 8 @ Minnesota  8:30

Calgary Roughnecks move up to the #2 spot with their victory over the Edmonton Rush 18-15.  After starting 0-2, this Roughneck team has won their last 3 games, all on the road averaging 17 goals per game.  This unbalanced team in the beginning of the year seems to be very balanced now.  Evans, Dickson, Veltman, Ranger & Shattler all had 2 goals, and Snider and Dobbie registered hat tricks. Calgary has made their statement, that they are the team to beat in the west.  Next Opponent   Feb 9  vs Edmonton  9pm

Buffalo Bandits slip to #3 after a tough loss to the Rock 14-12.  Veterans Mark Steenhuis and Aaron Wilson tallied hat tricks for the Bandits, as John Tavares was scratched with a calf injury.  Anthony Cosmo played a solid game in defeat.  Next Opponent  Feb 9  vs Rochester 7:30pm

Washington Stealth stays at #4 after a defensive battle in which they fell 7-6 to the Knighthawks.  Stealth have now lost two straight and are 3-3 on the season. The Stealth return home next weekend.

Philadelphia Wings holds at #5.  Wings were on a bye week after losing back to back games last weekend to Buffalo and Calgary.  This will be the Wings adversity test as they come off a two game losing streak, and  face a team that has beaten them 10 straight times.  Next Opponent  Feb 8  vs Rochester  11am

Colorado Mammoth move up two spots as they even their record at 2-2 after a huge win over division rival Minnesota 15-9   2012 MVP John Grant Jr had a mammoth game registering 5G/6A. Dan Lewis saw his first action of the season after starting goalie Matt Roik was served with a game misconduct with just over 8 minutes to go for using illegal equipment.  Next Opponent  Feb 9  @ Washington  10pm

Edmonton Rush drop to 7 this week after a tough “Battle of Alberta” matchup against Calgary in which they fell 18-15.  Their record may be 1-3 but this Rush team has been in every game til the end.  Look for this team to continue battling all year long, the rematch is next week.  Next Opponent  Feb 9  @ Calgary  9pm

Rochester Knighthawks move up to 8 after finally getting their first win of the season in a defensive battle 7-6 over the Stealth.  Matt Vinc was solid in net making some fantastic saves to preserve the win for the Hawks.  This week doesn’t get any easier for the Hawks as they go on the road for back to back games.

Minnesota Swarm drop to 9.  After losing their first two games by a goal in each, they rallied to gain their first victory by a goal. Then this weekend they get dominated by the Mammoth 15-9.  This young Swarm team will have growing pains throughout the season.  Next Opponent   Feb 8  vs  Toronto  8:30pm
