Today on July 4th Independence Day there will be fireworks as the Denver Outlaws will look to improve to make history with a win as it will mark the best regular season starting record in MLL history beating the record set by the 2005 Baltimore Bayhawks. While the New York Lizards will look for a win in order to get back in the MLL playoff picture.
Denver has already clinched a playoff spot after their 17-11 win over the Charlotte Hounds. The Outlaws have been powered offensively by Chris Bocklet, Brendan Mundorf, and Drew Snider. The Outlaws have one of the most potent offensive attacks and will try to put pressure on the Lizards early.
The Lizards sit with a 3-6 record on the season and will try to avoid their third straight loss after dropping their second straight losing to Rochester 13-10. The Lizards have received strong play from rookie Rob Pannell and defensive All-Star Greg Gurenlian. The Lizards also were busy at the deadline as they traded for Steve Mock, Max Van Bourgondien, and Daniel DiMaria. The Lizards will need their A game against the Outlaws. Last year the two teams split the season series with each team taking a game. The Lizards will be in hostile territory as it will be loud in Denver as the Outlaws try to make history. The Lizards will want to silence the crowd early and try to build a comfortable build so they can control this game.
In the end expect Denver to win this game as they will not be denied their tenth straight win and their chance at making history. Denver has the better overall team and it will show on Thursday.
