Outlaws Open CILL With Victory

Last night the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League opened up their third official season with a win from the Chicago Outlaws over the Grand Rapids Dragonfish.The Outlaws grabbed the 14-13 victory to open their season in the Western Conference 1-0 while the Dragonfish start with an 0-1 record. Josh Arras led the game with six goals, including the game winning goal.

“We moved the ball around very well,” said Arras in the Outlaws press release. “I just happened to get great feeds from my teammates and took advantage of the opportunities I was given.”

Outlaws goaltender Des Bailey made 30 saves in the victory, holding the high scoring Dragonfish of years past to 13 goals. The game was tied at four after one quarter while the Outlaws led 13-11 after three. It was a tight fourth quarter and the Dragonfish tied it with two before the game winner from Arras.

“I am very proud of the way of the guys played today, this was my box lacrosse debut and I am very proud to get that first ‘W’ out of the way.” Said AJ Collier, Head Coach of the Chicago Outlaws in the press release. “Now we can concentrate on next weekend, we’ve got Pittsburgh and Detroit  so we are really looking forward to building off what we did today and getting back at it next week.”

Next week the Outlaws travel to Detroit to face the Coney Dogs and then the Pittsburgh Octane the next day. The Dragonfish also face Detroit next week, looking for their first win.
