NLL Power Rankings: Week Ten

Only two games last week so not much of a change.  This week a couple teams play twice which could put separation in the division, could also bring this closer.  We also have a game in the west with the winner taking over first place. Trade deadline March 31.  Things could get very interesting.

NLL Power Rankings   Week 10

LW

(1)….1—Toronto Rock (9-1)  The Rock keep rolling along with a complete dismantling of the Mammoth 17-9.  If there is a downside on this team it’s on their faceoffs (36 percent).  Special teams, offense and defense are tops in the league per game average. The only possible problem is Billings is ready to play, but unsigned. But the way this team is going it can be placed on the back burner. Toronto has a home-home with Buffalo this weekend.  Friday in Buffalo 7:30, then back in Toronto Saturday 7 pm.

(2)….2—Rochester Knighthawks (6-3)   Knighthawks off this past weekend have won six of last seven. Two weeks ago they escaped with a one goal victory over the Roughnecks.  Now Rochester travels to Calgary for the rematch Saturday 9 pm.

(3)….3—Edmonton Rush (4-4) Two weeks, two losses, both at home and in overtime. This time Calgary handed Edmonton a 12-11 defeat.  The loss drops Edmonton into a tie for first.  Zack Greer still on a roll with another hat-trick.  Rush will look to start a winning streak as they host the Stealth on Saturday 9 pm.

(4)….4—Buffalo Bandits (5-5)  After a bye week, the Bandits now prepare for a huge home and home with Toronto this weekend.  John Tavares back in lineup, and hopefully a healthy Anthony Cosmo will give the team a boost.  At the very least a split is needed this weekend, they lose both and they will fall further away from the top two spots and will be fighting for third in the division. Game 1 of the home and home is Friday in Buffalo 7:30, with the rematch Saturday in Toronto 7 pm.

(6)….5—Vancouver Stealth (4-4)  After a bye week the Stealth have moved into a tie for fist place, and will look to take that spot as the visit the Edmonton Rush on Saturday 9 pm.

(5)….6—Colorado Mammoth (4-5) A complete dismantling by Toronto as they fall 17-9. Mamoth guns were invisible.  Westervelt, Grant Jr., and Adam Jones combined for two goals.  After a 3-0 start, the Woolies are 1-5, but are only a half game out of first in the Wild and Wacky West.  Mammoth host the Swarm Sunday 8 pm.

(7)….7—Minnesota Swarm (3-5)   Swarm look to make a move this weekend with two games. The Swarm fall into the same bucket as Buffalo.  A pair of weekend wins and they could move into third, a pair of losses and the climb to the playoffs get steeper. A split and they hold steady. Swarm will host New England Saturday 8 pm, then visit Colorado for a Sunday evening game at 8 pm.

(9)….8—Calgary Roughnecks (2-7)  After starting 0-6, the Roughnecks have won 2 of last 3 including an exciting 12-11 OT win over Edmonton. The Roughnecks have been playing stronger each week and goalie Mike Poulin seems to have the confidence back.  Dane Dobbie comes off the two game suspension, and if this team starts clicking you better beware, they are just two games out of a playoff spot.  Big rematch as Rochester comes for a visit Saturday 9 pm.

(8)….9—New England Black Wolves (2-5)  After starting 2-0 the Black Wolves have lost five in a row being outscored 79-56, that’s an average of 16-11. Huge game this weekend as they visit the Hive. A win can take them out of the basement and possibly make the race interesting for the final playoff spot.  Game time Saturday 8 pm.
