The Oakville Rock (2-6-1) and the Six Nations Chiefs (8-1-1) will face-off Sunday in the lone weekend game on the MSL schedule.
The game marks the second meeting of the season between the teams, with the Chiefs previously defeating the Rock 18-10 in what was Oakville’s first game of the year.
Oakville will be looking to rebound from a 10-7 loss to the Brooklin Redmen. The recent loss was a setback for Oakville, who had previously gained some momentum after earning their second win of the season over Brooklin and playing the Kitchener-Waterloo braves to a draw.
The Rock’s Stephan Leblanc will set foot on the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena turf as a member of the visiting team for the first time. Since being acquired from the Chiefs prior to the season, Leblanc has been the offensive leader on a young Rock squad. Leblanc currently leads Oakville in scoring with 28 points in eight games, including a three goal and two assist performance in the early season loss to Six Nations.
Six Nations recently moved into first place in MSL standings after defeating the Peterborough Lakers 16-11 on Thursday. Leading the Chiefs in the victory was Cody Jamieson with an outstanding six goals and four assists for 10 points. The Syracuse grad’s 39 points in eight games this season place him third on Six Nations in scoring and seventh amongst all MSL scorers. Jamieson was not in the lineup when the Rock and Chiefs previously met and his presence will undoubtedly be felt in Sunday’s game.
Face-off for the game is set for 8 p.m.
