Rattlers Season Review: Rochester Sees Progress in 2012

Is this season a disappointment for the Rochester Rattlers? After winning just two games the year before, it’s hard to say it was. Sure, they finished at just .500 and out of a playoff spot, but Rochester saw tremendous improvement in 2012.

The Rattlers saw an increase in goals this season by over twenty goals, something that must have had a big impact in their season. Matt Streibal led the team with 32 points, and Ned Crotty had 31. Crotty suffered an ankle injury and he missed two games, yet the Rattlers still saw a goal increase.

Brad Ross was a great acquisition for the Rattlers, who scored fifteen points in his nine games with the Rats. They also saw good performances from Steven Boyle who had twenty seven and Jordan MacIntosh who had twenty seven as well.

John Galloway had another solid season in goal, fifth in the league in goalie statistics. He had a goals against average of 12.71 and a .524 save percentage.

The big issue with the Rattlers is their loss to the eliminated Charlotte Hounds on the last day of the season, when all they needed was a win to get into the playoffs.

Rochester is a work in progress, but in an ever improving MLL, can they be a playoff team in 2013?
