Saints Acquire Scott Komer

The St.Catharines Saints announced Monday they have acquired goaltender Scott Komer from the Owen Sound Northstars in exchange for goaltender Zach Bowen.

“This is the type of deal we have been looking for to take our team another step forward,” said Saints President and General Manager Dave Colbourne. “Scott Komer is a dynamic goaltender that elevates our talent level significantly.

“We want to thank Zach for his dedication and service to our organization. He has been a
wonderful individual and a great teammate beyond just talented lacrosse player.”

Komer joins the Saints after spending parts of three seasons with Owen Sound where he had a regular season record of 24-10 with an 8.63GA/avg. Scott is the current backup for the Buffalo Bandits of the NLL. He is also in his second season in the Canadian Lacrosse League (CLAX) nd is a member of the Barrie Blizzard. He appeared in 11 games in 2012 for the Peel Avengers and was named a league All-star.

“This is the first of a few moves we hope to make before the beginning of the 2013 season;
we’ve been to the Presidents Cup the last 2 years and unsuccessful in bringing home the gold medal. We have unfinished business to take care of and I hope moves like this will help get us over the top.” Said Colbourne.

The Saints have won the Ontario Sr.B league championship the last 2 seasons defeating Owen Sound both times in the final. They won a bronze medal in 2011 and a silver medal in 2012 at the Canadian National Presidents Cup. This year’s cup is being hosted by the Kahnawake Mohawks of the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League August 26th to September 1st.

The Saints open there season on the road April 27th versus the Oakville Titans. Homes dates to be announced within the next week.
