The Ohio Machine and Hamilton Nationals announced a trade that sends goaltender Scott Rodgers and defenseman Chad Weidmaier along with the Nationals 2014 second round draft pick. In return, the Nats get midfielder Roy Lang and the Machine’s 2015 first rounder.
Rodgers was a seventh overall draft pick out of Notre Dame three years ago. He was the MVP of the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and he helped the Nationals get to the 2011 championship game where they lost to Boston.
Weidmaier was drafted by the Nationals in last year’s draft. He played nine games and picked up one assist. He was a four time All American with the Princeton Tigers in college.
Lang played in 13 games with the Rochester Rattlers last season. He picked up 14 goals and three assists. Lang was the 13th overall draft pick in the 2012 draft.
Lang was sent to the Machine in September in return for defender Dan Groot as a part of the a trade. The Machine also sent three draft picks to the Rattlers in that trade.
