The Victoria Shamrocks have made big moves all off season, first acquiring forward Scott Ranger of the Calgary Roughnecks and then goaltender Matt Vinc of the Rochester Knighthawks. Today they traded for forward Cory Conway who plays with the NLL’s Edmonton Rush, from the Western Lacrosse Association’s Nanaimo Timbermen.
The Shamrocks give Nanaimo their first round pick in 2015 along with their third round pick of the same year. It is the second trade between the teams this off season, as Nanaimo is where Ranger played in 2012.
Conway is a Victoria native who played with the Shamrocks jr team in the past. He has played four seasons in the WLA, one with Nanaimo last year and three with the Coquitlam Adanacs before.
He has 354 career points in the WLA which includes playoff games and 81 career regular season games over his four seasons. He has played in six seasons in the National Lacrosse League between Calgary and Edmonton with 231 career points.
Victoria, a known dynasty across the WLA, has struggled the last couple of seasons, not making the playoffs in 2012 and losing to the Langley Thunder in a second round sweep in 2011.
