What’s up ILWT readers?
I’m back blogging again, this time for the Six Nations Slash Sr. B lacrosse team as we compete for supremacy in the Can-Am Sr.B loop this summer.
So far, we are 2-1 on the young season after we posted an opening day win over the defending Can-Am champs and last summer’s league rep at the Presidents Cup Onondaga Redhawks 16-14 on home floor.
Winning that game was a big one right off the bat for our team as everyone contributed to a hard fought victory. It’s always good to open the season with a win especially against a team like Onondaga who always have a good squad. Our team played a good physical style of lacrosse in what was a back and forth game until we took the lead for good in the 3rdperiod, and killed off my 5 minute major late in the game (thanks for not making me the goat fellas) to take the win .
Speaking of good squads, our next game was on the road against the Newtown Golden Eagles who we met when we traveled to the Gil Lay Memorial Arena in Cattaraugus. This was a much anticipated matchup as Newtown ended our season in the league semi-finals last year before falling to Onondaga in the Can-Am final. Newtown also has a very strong team who work well together and have played together for many years. Our team held a 9-6 lead in the second period before a few mental lapses in a short amount of time let Newtown gain the momentum they needed to take the lead and would not look back as they defeated us 17-12. Although all losses suck, this one was tough as we held the lead and couldn’t finish the job. Newtown took advantage of our mistakes as they always do and showed us we still have lots of things to fix up before our next meeting with them at the end of the regular season in Six Nations.
In our third game, we defeated the Tonawanda Braves in a 23-11 blowout at home where the end result was never in question. One great thing about this game is that we got our captain Kyle Jamieson back from suspension which is big for the dressing room and leadership on the floor. Kyle is a vet who knows the game extremely well and we definitely gel much better together when he is on the floor battling with us in orange and white.
Upcoming this weekend we travel to Allegany to take on the arrows at the Seneca Allegany Community Centre. This is a great facility to play at as are many of the arenas in the Can-Am. I will try to take pictures to post for any away games so that for those blogs so you all can have a look at some seriously cool rinks.

Thats all for now, I’m running out soon to practice with the boys to prep for next weekend’s game.
Cheers
