The Emergence of Eric Law Came at Right Time for Outlaws

Charlotte Hounds v Denver Outlaws

Is it fair to say he is the hometown hero? Perhaps not yet, but Eric Law of the Denver Outlaws is quickly rising to that stage. The son of Larry and Linnea, Eric was born in Centennial, Colorado in 1991. Eric attended Arapahoe High School and played varsity lacrosse all four years while in school. As a senior, Eric helped the Arapahoe Warriors to a state championship and a 26th national ranking. Individually, Eric was awarded All-American honors for his efforts his senior year. Through his freshman to junior year, Eric earned All-County and All-State honors for the Warriors as well.

With all of his on-field success, most would have expected Eric to have attended a major NCAA DI program.  Instead, he chose Salisbury University which is a DIII program. During his freshman year, Eric saw action in eight games for the Seagulls.  He tallied seven goals and two assists. After the end of the season, some coaching changes caught the attention of the young Law. With Bill Tierney now at the helm for the Denver Pioneers, Eric made the decision to transfer to DU.

While at DU, Eric not only played in, but started 49 of 53 games. Eric amassed 86 goals and 66 assists totaling 152 points while playing for the Pioneers. Eric left the school ranked 6th in points, 8th in goals, and 4th in assists all time at DU. Leaving his senior season as a captain of the 2013 Pioneers, Eric was quietly drafted 29th overall by the Denver Outlaws.

After a morning graduation ceremony and lunch with his family, Eric arrived at Sports Authority Field at Mile High to dress for the Denver Outlaws in the first game of his rookie campaign. In his first two starts, Eric showed he was ready for the MLL scoring his first 9 goals on his first 9 shots. The performance in the first two weeks earned him Cascade Rookie of the Week honors. He would continue dominating for the Outlaws in the 2013 season. When all was said and done, Eric set Outlaws rookie records at 24 goals, a .632 shooting percentage, and tied the rookie point record at 34. Nine games in to the 2014 season, Law has almost duplicated his numbers from nine games in his rookie season. Law currently has 25 goals, 11 assists, and is shooting at a rate of .521.

Until now, through most of his career Eric was always the quiet threat you never saw but can change a game in a moment. Now he isn’t just producing on the field, but off of it as well. Seeing a great opportunity to give back to a lacrosse community that has given him so much, Eric joined the Denver City Lax staff as the program manager.

Eric has certainly risen as a role model for young Denver lacrosse athletes and the Denver community as well. It is clear that we can expect great things from this young star and the future certainly does look bright.
