Tim Henderson of the Vancouver Stealth and New York Lizards will be deployed, putting his lacrosse career on hold.Henderson was one of just 28 American players to play in the National Lacrosse League last season, and now he will be in the US Army. A 24 year old transition man with the Stealth, Henderson will serve in Afghanistan as a field artillery.
“Would I like to just show up and play lacrosse every week and not have other responsibilities? Yeah, that crosses my mind,” Henderson told Newsday. “But that’s not a mature way to approach it. I signed up for this and it’s something I believe in so it’s a no-brainer for me that it’s the right thing to do.”
Henderson played 11 games with the Stealth last season, and picked up four points and 19 loose balls. He was a two time all American at Army in his NCAA career.
He also plays for the New York Lizards, and was set to suit up in Denver on Fourth of July for their game against the Outlaws. That didn’t happen. In MLL, Henderson did not play in a game all season but he played 11 with the Lizards last season, scoring one goal.
