The Washington Stealth are moving to Vancouver, creating another Canadian team in the NLL. We have seen positive and negative reactions everywhere, and here are the best of them.Facebook Discussion Reactions
We posted about the move on Facebook and got these responses.
Rocco Joseph Granato (InLax Writer): 4 Canadian Teams. 5 American Teams. American Division. Canadian Division? American Div All-Stars vs. Canadian Div All-Stars
Devon Oldford (Reader): I personally do not understand the idea of going back to Vancouver which was a failed market and lost their team anyway. But honestly it is in Langley so maybe this will work, but they are drawing fans from a smaller population.
Will Harrington (Philadelphia Wings Player): We saw how well 2 different all American leagues did last year. The NLL has been around 25 years for a reason.
Logan Schuss (Top Prospect): Vancouver team failed because of location. With a smaller venue, tickets will be more desirable. A large amount of stealth fans are Canadians driving down to the Washington games. Great move by the Stealth.
Jake C Elliott (Swarm Scout): American League populated with 85% Canadian players . If you are good enough to be in the league you will be . Just like hockey it takes a long time to catch up . But your getting closer . It’s not about fans relating to American players . It’s about the city connecting with its players no matter where they are from or what nationality there are ! It’s about putting they best product on the floor that they can . And right now that is largely Canadian. Minor leagues , youth leagues take time to develop. In order to get a Nation Wide TV deal in Canada you need a team in Vancouver now with Edm Cal and Toronto with Montreal rumours swirling you are able to do that . Add that to what Logan said . This is the 2nd biggest box lacrosse market in the world . Another western Canadian team makes more sense on so many levels . Easy decision to make the move from Everett ( sorry fans ) but it wasn’t working there and it will here . Bottom line.
