Third Star- Ian Martin- Ohsweken Demons
The Ohsweken Demons are off to a slow start to the season, opening up 2016 at 1-3, but one bright spot has been the play of Ian Martin. In two games this weekend, Martin potted two goals, 10 assists for 12 points. The Six Nations Arrows product leads the league in scoring(22) and assists(14) while sitting eighth in goals with eight.
Second Star- Corey Fowler- Niagara Lock Monsters
Corey Fowler reached a Canadian Lacrosse League milestone, netting his 100th career CLax point in just 18 games. On Friday night, Fowler tallied three points(2G,1A) in the Lock Monsters’ 14-11 loss at Southwest. On Sunday, Niagara bounced back big, with Fowler playing a huge role. The Niagara-On-The-Lake,ON native scored a pair of goals while handing out seven assists to aid Niagara to a 15-6 win. Fowler sits two points back of the league scoring leader Martin(22) with 20 points in three games.
First Star- Jordan Dance- Southwest Cyclops
Jordan Dance had a massive weekend for the Southwest Cyclops, netting eight goals and three assists in two games. On Friday night, Dance found the back of the cage five times while adding to helpers to give the Cyclops their first win of the season(14-11 vs. Niagara). On Sunday, Southwest struggled to manufacture offense, only scoring six goals against the Lock Monsters in Niagara, but there was no shortage of offence from Dance. The Georgetown,ON native had his hands in on four of the six Southwest goals with a hat-trick and one assist. Dance’s sits sixth in CLax scoring, while his 11 goals is good enough for second in the league.
