Week Ten CLax Three Stars

It was a long week in the Canadian Lacrosse League as it stretched from Wednesday right through Sunday with all seven teams in action. Here are the CLax three stars for week ten.

Third Star – Caleb Wiles of the Barrie Blizzard

The Blizzard played a home and home series versus the Iroquois Ironmen and came away 1-1. Wiles was unstoppable in both games as he walked away from week ten with 6 goals and 5 assists. He played his best game on Sunday at home when he scored 4 goals and added 3 assists in Barrie’s second win of the season. Look for Wiles to continue his hot streak in the next few weeks as the Blizzard continue to fight for the six and final playoff spot.

Second Star – Jay Preece of the Brampton Inferno

The Inferno netminder started both games for Brampton in week ten and was a brick wall between the pipes. Preece made 92 saves (46 per game) including two huge stops against the Toronto Shooting Stars to give his team a one goal victory on Thursday. Saturday was no different as he made several unbelievable saves in a 12-7 win versus the Durham TurfDogs. If Preece keeps playing like this the Inferno will burn their way deep into the playoffs.

First Star – Andrew Potter of the Niagara Lock Monsters

With 12 points Andrew Potter was far and away the best player of week ten. Although he only tallied a goal and one assist in Niagara’s 16-9 blowup against the Ohsweken Demons, he played an integral role in the win. Potter chipped in at both ends of the floor and did all the right things when he didn’t have the ball. He played a smart game and set some big picks which created opportunities for his teammates to find openings to the net. On Friday he absolutely dominated with a 6 goal sock trick while adding 4 assists in Niagara’s 18-15 win over the powerful Toronto Shooting Stars.
