WLA Players of the Week: Smith Leads Bellies Past Lakers

1st star
Cliff Smith started the week in historic Queens Park vs Coquitlam with 2 points (1G,1A) although a losing cause it was a great effort from Smith, then he exploded in the swamp vs Burnaby for 8 points (3G, 5A) in a winning effort for the ‘Bellies’ to earn himself the first star of the weekend!
2nd star
Langley had a tough weekend with two losses but Alex Turner had a big weekend. Starting in Victoria he had a solid 4 point (3G, 1A) night in a loss then the next night in Nanaimo he came out on fire with a 8 point (3G, 5A) effort in another losing cause. Despite the teams disappointments Alex earned 2nd star of the weekend.
3rd star
The Victoria Shamrocks looked like they got themselves back on track to their winning ways and Rhys Duch was a big factor in that! Rhys had a strong game at home versus the Thunder with 6 points (3G, 3A) and was all over the floor, the following night in Coquitlam he let his technical play do more of the talking but still earned himself 2 points (1G,1A) to take home the third star of the weekend!
Goalie of the week
Matt Flindell was a wall this weekend for the Victoria Shamrocks. Starting the weekend against Langley he stopped 39/45 shots thrown at him for a victory and continued to play in the zone the following night versus Coquitlam stopping 41/46 earning the Shamrocks another big win over the weekend and getting himself the Goalie of the week honors!
Honorable Mention
Brett Hickey has done his part to keep Coquitlam in the hunt for playoffs all season and last weekend was no different. In a win against New Westminster he got 5 points (3G,2A), two nights later he had another solid outing vs the Shamrocks earning himself 2 points (1G,1A) in a losing team effort but keeping himself in the top scorers in the WLA.
