WLA Power Rankings: Shamrocks remain on top

With another week of WLA action in the books here are this week’s power rankings

1.Victoria Shamrocks: The Shamrocks still remain the team to beat in the WLA with a 6-2 record. The Shamrocks split their weekend games dropping one to Burnaby while avenging their early season loss to Maple Ridge. The Shamrocks were powered by Corey Small as Small had a ten point night on Friday and earned player of the week honors.

2. Langley Thunder: The Thunder have been on a role recently and sit only two points back of Victoria for first place in the WLA. The Thunder made a statement this weekend by beating both Nanaimo and Coquitlam. The Thunder appear to be rolling and will be a tough team to face in the upcoming weeks.

3. Maple Ridge Burrards: The Burrards have begun to slump recently losing their last two games but they are still one of the toughest teams in the league to play against. Maple Ridge has rode the strong play of Curtis Dickson as he has 62 points in just nine games and has got to be a contender for WLA MVP.

4. New Westminster Salmonbellies: The Salmonbellies have been on a roll winning their last two games and sit only four points back of first place. The Salmonbellies have been winning thanks to the strong play of Jordan McBride and goaltender Neil Tyacke who has stepped up in recent weeks.

5. Burnaby Lakers: The Lakers have had a resurgence ever since Scott Jones has returned. Burnaby got a big win over the weekend as they knocked off the Burrards. Jones has also helped Dane Stevens once again find his game as Stevens now sits second in WLA scoring.

6. Coquitlam Adanacs: The Adanacs have been up and down all season but they have still been competitive in every game they have played this season. Coquitlam notched a big win over Nanaimo this weekend. Coquitlam is a team that could be on an upswing soon if Nick Rose returns as he is arguably Coquitlams most valuable player thanks to his ability to steal games due to his great goal tending.

7. Nanaimo Timbermen: The Timbermen have shown flashes of brilliance this season but they have not been consistent this season. The Timbermen are a team that could make a run if their offense can improve. Cayle Ratcliff has been the driving force for this team this season but they need their other forwards to step up if they hope to have success.
