WLA Power Rankings: Thunder continue to Roll

With another week in the WLA in the books here are this week’s power rankings.

  1. Langley Thunder: First off the Thunder loaded up by acquiring all stars Dane Dobbie and Nick Rose from Coquitlam which should help bolster their already stacked team. The Thunder are currently on a six game winning streak and knocked off top place Victoria this weekend earning them top spot in the power rankings.
  2. Victoria Shamrocks: While the Thunder loaded up the Shamrocks have continued to roll and currently sit in second place in the WLA. The Shamrocks before losing to Langley had won two straight and still possess one of the most dangerous offenses in the league earning them second spot on this list.
  3. Burnaby Lakers: The Burnaby Lakers are riding a three game winning streak and are currently third place in the WLA. The Lakers owe their success to the strong play of Dane Stevens who has 62 points on the season and is leading the Lakers offense. The Lakers look to be a contender and if they can keep up their winning ways they will soon find themselves at the top of this list.
  4. Maple Ridge Burrards: the Burrards have struggled recently losing their last three games. Though they still have to be considered in the top four of the WLA for Curtis Dickson alone as he has been a one man wrecking crew and will get the Burrards back to their winning ways.
  5. New Westminster Salmonbellies: The Salmonbellies are another team that has struggled recently and has dropped three straight games as well. New Westminster though has shown great potential as they have taken the top teams to their limits and if they can start winning these close games they will find themselves moving up in the standings.
  6. Nanaimo Timbermen: Nanaimo split their weekend games losing to Langley but defeating the Burrards in overtime. Nanaimo is a tough team and with some additions in the offseason they could turn themselves into a contender but for now they sit at the bottom of the league standings.
  7. Coquitlam Adanacs: The Adanacs earn this spot as they lost two of their best players this week along with being on a three game losing streak. Things look bleak for the Adanacs and their season looks to be on a downward spiral. It will be interesting if they can pull it together and go out on a high note this season.
