All MLL Team Announced

Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional lacrosse league, announced Friday the players who have been named to the 2012 Lacrosse.com All-Major League Lacrosse team, recognizing the best players at each position.  Named to the All-MLL team were:

Attack: Ned Crotty (Rochester), Brendan Mundorf (Denver), Ryan Boyle (Boston)

Midfield: Paul Rabil (Boston), Kyle Dixon (Chesapeake), Max Seibald (Long Island)

Defense: Brodie Merrill (Hamilton), Kyle Hartzell (Ohio), Michael Evans (Chesapeake), Lee Zink (Denver)

Goalkeeper: Drew Adams (Long Island)

Face-off Specialist: Greg Gurenlian (Long Island)

The selections were based on votes submitted by the general managers and head coaches of the six MLL teams in addition to voting by MLL fans.

Named to the All-MLL Team for the second straight season, Crotty was the Rattlers’ second-leading scorer with 31 points in 12 games. Crotty, who led the team with 16 assists, tallied a point in 10 of his 12 outings this year, including a season-high five points against Boston on June 1 and at Long Island on July 7. He also had a three-goal outing in his first game of the year at Chesapeake on May 12.

A three-year MLL veteran, Crotty has scored 55 goals with 50 assists in his career while playing in 31 games.

Honored as the Bud Light MLL Season Most Valuable Player, Mundorf ranked second in the MLL with 59 points while leading the Denver Outlaws to a franchise-record 11 wins and the top seed in the 2012 MLL Championship Weekend presented by Warrior. He finished second in the MLL with 32 goals and was fourth in the MLL with 27 assists.

Mundorf, who earned All-MLL Team notice for the third time in the last four years, was a three-time Bud Light MLL Player of the Game selection while earning MLL Offensive Player of the Week notice twice. He tallied at least one point in all 12 games, including a season-high eight points against Chesapeake on June 12 and in a win over Rochester on June 16.

The all-time leading scorer in Denver Outlaws history, Mundorf has scored 206 career goals with 100 assists in 79 career games. He was also named to the All-MLL team in 2009 after scoring 34 goals with 10 assists.

Selected to the All-MLL Team for the fourth time in his career, Boyle finished the season ranked third in the MLL by matching his career high with 58 points, including a league-high 39 assists. He also contributed 19 goals in 14 games while helping the Cannons earn their 11th postseason appearance in 12 years.

Boyle, who tallied a point in 13 of 14 games, posted at least four points in nine games, including a season-high eight-point effort in a July 28 victory over Chesapeake at Harvard Stadium. During the final four games of the regular season, Boyle exploded for 24 points, including 17 assists, as the Cannons won three of their final four games to earn a playoff berth.

A nine-year MLL veteran, Boyle has tallied 394 points in 94 career games, including an MLL-record 236 assists.

Honored as the Warrior MLL Offensive Player of the Year for the third time in the last four years, Rabil set the MLL single-season record with 72 points in 14 games, including a season-high eight points against Rochester on April 28 and at Denver on May 19. He also ranked second in the MLL with 38 assists while his 27 goals ranked fifth in the MLL. In addition, he had seven two-point goals, which was tied for fourth in the MLL.

One of three players to record at least one point in all 14 games this season, Rabil posted at least two points in all 14 games and had four “hat trick” efforts.

A five-year MLL veteran, Rabil has scored 133 goals, including 28 two-point markers, with 85 assists in 56 career games. He has tallied at least 50 points in three of his five MLL seasons.

While leading the Chesapeake Bayhawks to a 10-4 record and the second seed in the playoffs, Dixon had a record-setting season and finished the year as the fourth-leading scorer in the MLL with 48 points. He set the MLL single-season record by tallying 15 two-point goals, including a record-tying three two-point goals against Ohio on May 5. He also tallied a pair of two-point goals three other times.

Dixon, who tallied at least 20 goals for the fourth time in his seven-year MLL career, also became the MLL’s all-time leader in two-point goals, finishing the season with 47 career two-point markers. Led by Dixon, the Bayhawks set an MLL record by scoring 28 two-point goals in 14 games.

A three-time All-MLL Team selection, Dixon has scored 118 goals, including 47 two-point markers, with 68 assists in 77 career games.

Acquired by the Long Island Lizards at the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft, Seibald had his best season this year by leading the Lizards with 39 points. In 13 games, the former Cornell University standout scored a career-high 24 goals, including four two-point goals, with 11 assists. He led the Lizards to a victory over Hamilton on July 21 by scoring two goals with three assists. In addition, Seibald tallied four goals against Denver on May 12 and against Ohio on June 1.

A two-time selection to the All-MLL Team, Seibald has scored 65 goals, including 11 two-point markers, with 22 assists in 41 career games.

Named as the Warrior MLL Defensive Player of the Year, Zink played in 13 games while helping the Denver Outlaws claim their first MLL regular season title since 2009. He recorded 17 ground balls, including a season-high three ground balls in a win over Rochester on June 16.

A nine-year MLL veteran, Zink has played in 103 career games and has recorded 211 ground balls. He helped the Baltimore Bayhawks win the 2005 MLL Championship and has played in 12 or more regular season games in six of his nine seasons.

Named to the All-MLL Team for the seventh consecutive year, Merrill ranked third in the MLL with 96 ground balls in 13 games while contributing four goals, including a two-point marker, and six assists for the Hamilton Nationals. He had a season-high 11 ground balls at Chesapeake on June 16 and also against Ohio on July 13. In addition, he tallied a season-high two assists at Charlotte in a June 2 victory while posting a goal with an assist at Long Island on July 21.

A six-time selection as the Warrior Defensive Player of the Year, Merrill holds the MLL record with 620 career ground balls while scoring 39 goals, including three two-point markers, with 66 assists in 91 career games.

Named to the All-MLL Team for the first time in his career, Hartzell scored 11 goals, including nine two-point markers, with an assist in 14 games for the Ohio Machine while contributing a career-high 60 ground balls. He led all defensemen in scoring with 21 points while his nine two-point goals ranked second among all MLL players.

A graduate of Salisbury University, Hartzell tallied a season-high three goals, including a pair of two-point markers, against Charlotte on June 23 and also had two goals, including a two-point marker, against Denver on June 9. On July 4 at Denver, he recorded a season-high 11 ground balls.

A five-year MLL veteran, Hartzell has tallied 162 ground balls in 53 career games. In addition, he has scored 15 goals, including 11 two-point markers, with three assists.

Honored as a member of the All-MLL Team for the second straight season, Evans played in 11 games for the Bayhawks this season and contributed a career-high 10 ground balls. He had a season-high four ground balls at Rochester on July 14 and also had two ground balls against Ohio on July 21 and against Long Island on August 4.

A four-year MLL veteran, Evans has played in 41 career games for the Bayhawks and has 22 ground balls in his career.

Selected as the Warrior MLL Goalkeeper of the Year for the second year in a row, Adams started all 14 games while leading Long Island to an 8-6 record and the number four seed in the playoffs. He ranked fourth in the MLL with an 11.91 goals against average while stopping 52.0 per cent of the shots he has faced. With 179 saves, he ranked third in the MLL.

Adams posted at least 10 saves in 11 games, including a season-high 17 saves in a victory over Charlotte on May 12. In addition, he posted 16 saves in a one-goal victory over the Boston Cannons on June 9 and earned Bud Light MLL Player of the Game honors. A four-year MLL veteran, Adams has made 504 saves in his career while posting a .534 save percentage with an 11.72 goals against average.

The MLL leader with 230 face-off wins and 124 ground balls, Gurenlian earned his first career All-MLL Team selection while leading the Lizards to a playoff berth. In addition, he scored four goals with three assists while playing in 14 games. During the season, he collected at least 10 ground balls seven times, including a season-high 12 ground balls in four separate games.

A six-year MLL veteran, Gurenlian has won 797 of 1473 face-off attempts (.541) while recording 339 ground balls in 60 career games. He has also scored 33 goals with 17 assists.

The MLL Championship Weekend presented by Warrior will be held on August 25 and 26 at Harvard Stadium. The top-seeded Denver Outlaws will face the fourth-seeded Long Island Lizards in the first semi-final at 1 p.m. before the second-seeded Chesapeake Bayhawks will play against the defending MLL champion Boston Cannons, who earned the third seed, in the second semi-final at approximately 4 p.m.
