The Boston Rockhoppers had their first training camp last week, and we spoke with forward Andrew Kirkaldy about how it went. Only a few players were not there, so they were able to get a pretty good sense on their club.
“Camp was good. Fast paced, energetic, and guys were really excited to be there.” says Kirkaldy. “Lots of competition between the players, because it was a one day camp.”
The Rockhoppers were without their starting goaltender Nick Schroeder, but Kirkaldy says that several other players stepped it up and looked sharp.
“I thought Ryan Hotaling, Mike Stone, Jon Hayes, Malcom Chase, TJ Dahill, and Matt Leveck stood out amongst the guys who played box before.”
Lastly, Kirkaldy says that the team chemistry is good, but not yet great. “Team chemistry was good but not great. It is hard to develop great team chemistry with one practice. However, there were glimpse of chemistry between some guys. I think once the team is made and we have our first practice I think the chemistry will be outstanding. Everyone out there seemed like a great teammate and that is step one to creating good chemistry.”
