The Philadelphia Wings, of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), have agreed to terms with forward Roger Vyse on a one-year agreement for the 2014 season. To make room for Vyse on the active 20-man roster, the Wings placed forward Kevin Ross on the 21-day injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Ross has appeared in four games this season contributing 11 points (five goals, six assists) and collecting 23 loose balls….

Swarm Open First Home Game Against Slumping Wings

January 19, 2014

The Philadelphia Wings and Minnesota Swarm face each other just 24 hours after the Swarm defeated the Wings 11-10 in Philadelphia on some questionable non-calls. Kevin Ross will be out with what appears to be a seperated right shoulder after a hit from behind into the boards from Andrew Suitor. This is the Swarms home opener at the Hive for 2014 and winning yesterday on the road will obviously give…

Swarm Get First Win, Top Wings

Before I write my review I feel the need to vent.  The officials in this game were HORRIBLE.  There were calls on both ends that they missed, but some major ones that could have changed the game. 1-Since when is a back body drop legal? In first quarter while there was a scrum by the benches a Swarm player flipped a Wings player over their back. 2-Ryan Ward scores at…

Wings Backup Goalie: Is Don Alton the Answer?

Last season the Wings invited eight goalies to training camp, by camp’s end Kevin Croswell was signed as a free agent and the Wings thought Kevin Croswell was the answer as the back up to Brandon Miller. Well when Croswell saw action it was a disaster.  He faced 35 shots and allowed 11 goals in 33 minutes of floor time and a 19.87 GAA.  So it was obvious the Wings…

NLL Week One: What Went Wrong, What Went Right

Philadelphia Wings Right—Complete game was played.  They won every quarter with no let up. Jordan Hall led the way 5G/2A.  New Wings Kyle Buchanan 3G/5A, Tracey Kelusky 2G/4A, and Ryan Ward 5A made their presence known.  Power Play 3-6.  Moved ball well on inside and two man game. Solid performance by Evan Kirk. Wrong—Too many unnecessary penalties, need to be more dominant on the face-offs, getting beat one-on-one after losing…
