Bandits Look to Rebound in Philly

Today at 4 pm, the Buffalo Bandits (1-1) will face off against the Philadelphia Wings (1-1) in their second matchup of the season, this time at the Wells Fargo Center. The last time these teams met was during Week 1 when the Wings emerged victorious with a 17-13 win on the road at the First Niagara Center.

Buffalo Bandits head coach Troy Cordingley was not happy with his team’s results in the week 1 matchup. “We were taught a lesson. We were outworked and we were outplayed; we were out-everything. We had guys on different pages. You have to be on the same page to win in this league. Quite frankly, we were terrible tonight.”

The Wings in that Week 1 matchup were able to control the Bandits by outplaying them for the loose balls thus being able to get those all important second and even third chances. Kyle Buchanan, Jordan Hall and third-year goalie Evan Kirk played really well in their victory.

The Bandits used the Week 1 loss to the Wings and their Week 2 bye week to help reevaluate their team mechanics and reestablish their game plans. This rejuvenation helped the Bandits outwork and outhustle the Toronto Rock in their Week 3 12-10 victory on Friday at the First Niagara Center. Also in Week 3 action, the Wings were on the road in Rochester to take on the back-to-back NLL champion Knighthawks and came away with a 13-9 loss on Saturday.

With only three teams making the playoffs in each division, a win today for the Bandits will bring both teams into a tie in the season series and thus making their third meeting on February 15th at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo the all-important divisional tie breaker.
