Bandits Re-Sign Billy Dee Smith

Buffalo Bandits General Manager Steve Dietrich announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Billy Dee Smith on a two-year contract, pending league approval.

“We are pleased to have Billy back for another two years,” Dietrich said.  “He is one of the premiere defenders in the NLL and we look forward to Billy being a core piece in a revamped defensive unit that we hope will lead us back to the playoffs and the NLL Championship.”

Smith will be entering his 12th NLL season, all of which have been spent in Buffalo.  He currently ranks first in franchise history with 444 penalty minutes and also sits fourth with 133 games played.  Over his career, the 2012 NLL All-Star has chipped-in 59 points (31+28), including three (2+1) in 12 games last season.

“I’m very happy to have signed to a two-year contract,” remarked Smith.  “Being a Buffalo Bandit is all I know and want to know, as we have a great organization and the best fans in the league.  I am excited for this year’s team and look forward to getting back to the playoffs.”
