NLL Player Blog: Lum-Walker Looking for Strong Return

The second player blog of this NLL pre season will be Toronto Rock defenseman Mike Lum-Walker, who is returning from missing 2013 with a torn ACL.

After tearing my ACL during the first day of training camp with the Toronto Rock last season I was ready to get back on the lacrosse floor. I spent the past year rehabbing and getting ready for this season, and it was about to be put to the test.

You can spend hours in the weight room lifting and working on your footwork, but nothing can prepare you for the speed of professional lacrosse.

It was something that took a bit of time for me to adjust too, especially after being out for a full season. Knowing that I am competing for limited spots makes the environment a bit tense, but it is a special feeling battling for a position among great players. Moving forward my goal is to do the things that I am known for; playing tough defense, being a physical presence, and giving the ball to the guys who can make the magic happen.

Each training camp session is a war for a spot and I have to make sure I am ready mentally and physically.
