The Miami Hurricanes will be hosting Florida International on Friday, February 7. The Hurricanes lost all 10 games they played last year and ended up at the bottom of the SELC Southeast. At 0-10 last season the Hurricanes fell short of fellow Florida teams that sky rocketed in the MCLA. The Hurricanes are looking to compete with those teams (Central Florida, Florida, and Florida Gulf Coast). Game time is scheduled for 7 PM.
The Florida International Panthers did not field a team in 2013, but look to make a blazing comeback this season. Just the third season of competition, FIU will make the jump to official MCLA play next year.
The Hurricanes will look to have Emmett Torney lead the team once again this year. Torney led Miami in points, (9 goals, 4 assists) in 2013. The Hurricanes will need help from young players including their group of incoming freshmen. Players like Harry McCreary (11 points) and Taylor Levy (8 points) both were near the top of the team’s point list last season and will be counted on to provide offense.
Neither team has had good going over the last few years, but 2014 is a new year and holds new optimism and expectations for both teams.
